Explaining Open Banking in two minutes, without the jargon
Open Banking lets businesses source bank-verified customer information and take payments directly from an account. It is genuinely useful, but it is new, invisible and easy to distrust. Payit needed an explainer that builds confidence as fast as it builds understanding.
01 · The challengeShow the flow, not the technology
The audience was merchants and their finance teams, not developers. The film had to explain what Account Information Services are, how a customer journey works, and why it is safe, in language a busy business owner would accept, and without a single line of jargon.
02 · ApproachStep by step, and trust at every step
- Step-by-step clarity. The payment and verification journey is animated as a simple linear flow on a single device, so the benefit lands before the mechanics.
- Trust by design. Visual cues for security, the customer's own bank and the customer's explicit consent are woven into the motion to reassure as it explains.
- On brand for NatWest. Built entirely within NatWest's identity, typography and illustration style, so the product feels backed by a bank people already know.

03 · OutcomeA two-minute answer to a hard question
A product explainer that NatWest could use across sales, onboarding and events: complete in two minutes, with zero jargon, and fully consistent with the bank's brand.
